Hand painted silks are very unique items, whether they be scarves, pillows, wraps, or clothing. Hand painted silks are not found in most department stores and are mostly sold at high end boutiques and art/craft shows. Hand painted silks are made one at a time, so they are truly one of a kind, unlike mass-produced scarves.

Silk is a natural fiber that has been around for thousands of years. Polyester is a synthetic man-made fiber. Silk is a protein-based fiber made from the cocoons of silkworms. It keeps you warm in winter and cool in the summer. Silk allows your skin to breathe and feel more comfortable. Synthetic fibers such as polyester does not allow the skin to breathe and is not as comfortable as silk.

I ship within 2 to 3 days of customer purchase. I mainly ship by US Post Office Priority mail with delivery confirmation and insurance. Occasionally I ship by FedEx. Once payment is received, I will send an email to the customer about shipment of orders.

I can do custom orders on most of my silk items. Since all of my work is hand painted and made one piece at a time, no two items will be exactly alike. Please allow at least 3 to 4 weeks for custom silk orders.

Most silks can be safely hand washed, using mild liquid soap such as Woolite or Ivory liquid and cold to cool water. Silk velvets and silk/rayon devore scarves should be dry cleaned.

No. Dyed silks will not fade if cared for properly. Avoid putting any silk item in direct sunlight for long periods of time. If well cared for, hand painted silks can last a very long time.

I only use the best quality silk dyes. All of my silk items are set using a special process called steam-setting. Each item is steam set from 3 to 4 hours, which allows the dye to form a permanent bond with the silk. After the steam setting process is completed, the silk is colorfast and washable. The silk/rayon blend scarves are dyed using Procion fiber-reactive dyes and the 100% silk scarves are dyed with liquid acid dyes.
